Maloney, C.M., on behalf of the Commission for Promoting Systemic Change announcing grants totalling $100,000 (USD). These funds, made possible for the fifth consecutive year through a generous grant from a foundation, are earmarked for members of the Vincentian Family who are interested in starting or directing projects with the poor that promote systemic change.” More »

The Mass concelebrated in the seminary church at Stradom House in Krakow at 11 AM on Monday, February 6, and presided by outgoing Visitor of Poland, Fr. Arkadiusz Zakręta CM started the Provincial Assembly of the Province of Poland of the Congregation of the Mission.  Until Thursday, February 9, almost 70 Confreres representing all twenty-seven Houses of the Province in Poland and abroad are taking part in twelve sessions during four days,. Fr. Stanislav Zonták CM, Assistant General, participates, too. The theme “Creative Fidelity to the Mission” refers to last year General Assembly in Paris. The assembly ends on Thursday when the solemn Eucharist will be celebrated in the seminary church (at 11 AM again). New installed Visitor, Fr. Kryspin A. Banko CM will preside in the liturgy and preach.

ggg-chile-05In October every year Superior General addresses his Mission Appeal to all members of the Congregation of the Mission. “My brothers, we once again are in the month of October, the time when traditionally the Superior General makes an appeal to missionaries throughout the world in order to respond to the needs of our own international missions or requests that have come from particular provinces or from Bishop” – Father Greg begins his Letter and continues encouraging “all to reflect seriously upon the contents of this Mission Appeal Letter. It gives an update on the actual missions that we have, introduces new invitations that we have received and highlights some special missions. At the end of the letter is the procedure that you are asked to follow when you want to consider offering yourself as a missionary beyond the limits of your own province.”

After the Eucharist celebrated in Wawel Cathedral and the funeral rites there the corps of Bishop Albin Malysiak CM was transported to Salwatorski Cemetery, in Krakow, in the parish he lived for most of his episcopacy. He was laid down in the tomb next to new chapel according to his last will. Cardinal Stanislaw Dziwisz of Krakow presided. The video below reports this part of the funeral ceremony:

Video recording of the Funeral Mass of late Bishop Albin Małysiak CM celebrated in the Wawel Cathedral, Krakow, July 22, 2011. Cardinal Stanislaw Dziwisz, Archbishop of Krakow presided and preached the homily. Cardinal Franciszek Macharski, retired Archbishop of Krakow led funeral rites. Bishop Jan Zajac, Auxiliary Bishop of Krakow, at the beginning of the Mass read the special message from the Holy See on the death of Bishop Malysiak. Archbishop Jozef Michalik of Przemysl, President of the Bishops Conference delivered the speech at the end of the Mass. Dozens of other bishops and over one hundred priests attended.
