Vincentian Priests and Brothers

On the occasion of Social Worker Day President of Poland Mr. Lech Kaczynski has awarded with orders and medals number of people bringing help to other people and for outstanding work among people in need. Rev. Andrzej Augustynski CM, President and Director General of “U Siemachy” Association was one of the recipients.

On November 24, 2009 in the headquarters of the Association in Krakow, Secretary of State in the Office of President of Poland, Mr. Pawel Wypych has handed the Knights’ Cross of Poland Restored Order (Polonia Restituta), one of the most important national medals, to Fr. Andrzej Augustyński. Members of Association’ administration and Revision Commission were present including Very Reve. Arkadiusz Zakreta CM, Visitor of Poland and Rev. Wladyslaw Bomba CM, chair of Revision Commission.

Right after the ceremony Fr. Augustyński said, that “education of young people is a team work which requires creation of the environment filled with charismatic workers and educators. Thus, this reward, first of all should merit people of “U Siemachy”. The minister in his speech emphasized that consequence and persistence which accompany Fr. Andrzej in all the years he has been working on this project are worth to be rewarded and merited.

“U Siemachy” Association was founded in 1993 as public NGO organization concerned on education and bringing care to children in youth in need in Krakow. After years it became the largest and most dynamic education organization in Krakow and starts to expands its charism and educational skills to other people. Administered and supervised by Vincentians it is and successor of Institution for Poor Boys founded by Fr. Kazimierz Siemaszko CM at the beginnig of 20th century in Krakow.
