Vincentian Priests and Brothers

On Saturday, May 24, 2008, in Lviv, Ukraine, Sr. Marta Anna WIECKA DC, from Province of Krakow of Daughters of Charity was beatified during special celebration. To celebrate the first anniversary Daughters of Charity prepared an all night vigil service at Jasna Góra Shrine in Czestochowa.  An Eucharist celebrated by Msgr Mieczysław Mokrzycki, Latin Metropolitan of Lviv started the vigil at 5:00 p.m. (CEST) on Sunday, May 24 , 2009. 

Other celebrations followed:

• 7:00 p.m. (CEST) - gathering in  John Paul II Auditorium to share memories, witnesses and reflections on the life of Sr. Wiecka  - Rev. Marcin Stasiowski CM, Director of Province of Krakow of Daughters of Charity welcomed attendants.  Msgr Mieczysław Mokrzycki of Lviv shared memories of beatification and thamked, especially Daughters of Charity, for preparing the beatifiacation. Sr. Janina Stachowiak DC of Province of Krakow gave an lecture titled “Dynamics of Devotion of Bl. Marta Wiecka”. Two testimonies of graces received thanks to Sr. Marta were reported. This part was conluded by Principal of Bl. Marta Wiecka Elementary School in Szczodrowo (read: Sh-cho-dro-vo) and ahort artistic performance by pupils from the school.
• 9:00 p.m. -  traditional Apel Jasnogoski prayer lead by Msgr Mokrzycki who presented the life of Bl. Sr. Marta. Ukrainian Church was included in prayers.
• 10:00 p.m. - the Rosary prayer with Sr. Marta,
• 12:00 a.m. -  Rev. Marcin Stasiowski CM presided thanksgiving  Mass  for the gift of beatification of Sr. Marta. In the homily he encouraged attendants to follow Blessed Sr. Marta, who integrated two important virtues:  common sense and openness to the Holy Spirit.
• 2:15 a.m. -  Stations of the Cross with bl. Sr. Marta,
• 3:15 a.m. - Acatist for Mother of God prepared by Greek-Catholic Sisters of Charity from Lviv. (Acatist is a traditional solemn liturgical hymnal sung in Orthodox and Unitarian churches mainly dedicated to Mother of God)
• 4:30 a.m - the Vigil ended
