Msgr Goclowski: a neurological incident not a stroke

goclowski1Mr. Jerzy Karpinski, M.D., Gdansk region surgeon general has informed media on the current state of health of Archbishop Tadeusz Goclowski CM who yesterday, March 7, 2010, was admitted to the Neurology Clinics of Gdansk University Medical Center with suspected stroke. This suspition, said Dr. Karpinski, has not confirmed yet. According to his assessment, patient feels well and should return home within a few days.

Msgr Tadeusz Goclowski CM had a stroke

goclowski1Polish public TV news channel (TVP Info) has reported in the evening today (2006 GMT) that Archbishop Tadeusz Gocłowski CM, former Archbishop of Gdansk, has suffered a stroke. We have confirmed this information from Superior of Vincentian Parish of Pentecost in Sopot, Fr. Jerzy Berdychowski CM. Bishop’s health is in serious but stable condition. He was admitted to University of Gdansk Medical Center on Sunday, March 7 and remains on neurological ward there.

New Acolytes and Lectors instituted in seminary church

stradom-altar-panorama_cap2It is tradition in the Province of Poland to institute new Lector (Reader) and Acolyte ministers on the first Sunday of Lent. These ministries are elements of formation toward priesthood. Canon Law requires candidates for diaconal ordination to have received and have exercised for an appropriate time the ministries of lector and acolyte and prescribes that institution in the second of these ministries must precede by at least six months ordination as a deacon.

Chopin Year celebrations start in Holy Cross Church in Warsaw

2010 was proclaimed Chopin Year in Poland to commemorate 200th birthday anniversary of Frederic Chopin, most famous Polish composer and one of the biggest in the world.  He was born on February 22, 1810 (some sources say it was on March 1) in Zelazowa Wola near Warsaw. On eve of the birthday anniversary solemn Thanksgiving Mass was celebrated in Holy Cross Church in Warsaw presided by Most Reverend archbishop Henryk Muszynski, Primate of Poland. He preached the homily, too. This Eucharist in the place where Chopin’s heart is laid inaugurated nationwide celebrations of Chopin Year.

Project: “Motorcycle for Missionary”

RafalBrukarczykFather Rafal Brukarczyk CM is working as missionary in Honduras for a couple of years. He is responsible for a parish located high in mountains, accessed with difficulty and requiring extraordinary transportation to be used. Since the beginning he has been using a horse, which is not very effective transportation. First one died.  The other one, donated by a local bishop works very hard in those conditions. A 4 wheel drive vehicle is not able to get to most of the places in the parish.
